As in this process hair strands are extracted separately by the doctor it becomes very time consuming and after extraction hair strands are placed in the holes in the bald area.

FUT (Follicular Unit Transplant)

FUT is also popular as FUSS (Follicular Unit Strip Surgery). It is the most common and traditional procedure of hair transplant. In this procedure, first, a band of tissue is cut out from the backside of the head which is called as the donor area and then it is taken for washing and separation into splices/grafts. These separated grafts are then placed in the holes created in the bald area which is called a recipient area.

So, what is the main difference?

Currently, FUE and FUT are in violent competition in hair transplant market. Each method has some advantages and disadvantages and their disadvantages are so minor that we can’t side with one method. What actually is a concern of the patient is choosing the method of hair transplant which doesn’t leave a scar and in this criterion, FUT fails. FUT leaves a scar that appears like a strip at the backside of the head which looks unattractive.

But FUT has some significant advantages which make it the most popular hair transplant method. In FUT best quality of the hair is extracted compared to FUE. FUE hair transplant method doesn’t leave a scar which makes it a good option. Its side effects are small and the size of scare is so small that people are unable to notice.

If you consider scarring then FUE method is a good choice but in case of time-consumption and large size of transplant, FUT is a good choice. And also, recovery time and post-operative pain are less in FUE compared to FUT. In the end, you will have to make your decision.
